The Kingdom of Thailand
lies in the heart of Southeast
Asia, equidistant between India and China. It shares borders with
Myanmar to the west and north, Laos to the northeast, Cambodia to the east
and Malaysia to the south. Topographically the country is divided into
the mountainous North, the fertile Central Plains, the semi-arid plateau of
the Northeast, and the peninsula South distinguished by its many beautiful
tropical beaches and offshore Islands.
Thailand's allure is pure Oriental fantasy - a dream world of royal palaces
with delicately peaked roofs, glittering temples that pierce the skyline,
and serene images of the Buddha radiating peace and divine knowledge.
Go shopping in Bangkok, relax on some of the most beautiful beaches in the
world in Phuket or Pataya in the south, head north to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai
where a cool breeze blows through the hills, or go trekking and discover the
world of the hill-tribe people. Or if you enjoy history, visit the former
capitals in Ayuthaya and Sukhothai.
